Description
The Forea duo was formed in 2024 when Elena Morel, a pianist trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Liège in Belgium, met Paolig Billard, a cellist who studied at the Conservatoire du Grand Chalon. Very quickly, the two musicians discovered a deep artistic affinity, fuelled in particular by a shared love of the work of Gabriel Fauré, from whom they borrowed the name for their ensemble.
From the very outset, they performed together in a series of three concerts held in July 2024 in Demigny, Fontaines and Chagny, establishing a musical identity based on attentiveness, balance and a constant quest for expressive precision.
Their repertoire focuses on the great works of the nineteenth century, particularly those from the French and German traditions. In their approach, they strive to create a dialogue between the voices of the cello and the piano with clarity and subtlety, in order to convey the full poetic richness and emotional depth of the Romantic style.
The programme for this concert is fully in keeping with this approach, bringing together works by Saint-Saëns, Rachmaninov, Fauré, Schubert and Schumann – composers who, each in their own way, explore the nuances of lyricism and musical intimacy.
