    Founded in 1529 on St Laurent Island by the city aldermen, the hospital displays an elaborate cultural heritage.
    The fi rst thing you notice is the Gothic architecture dating from the 16th century on the building that housed the St Marthe’s community of nuns. The old pharmacy dating from the 18th century, which holds a signifi cant collection of earthenware jars, has also kept its ancient facade. This remarkable site also has:
    • a Pewter room, with more than 200 pewter dishes and copper utensils
    • the nun’s refectory with its rococo-style wooden panelling,
    • the 19th century chapel with its 16th century stained glass windows
