A2c / Femmes RegARTS / Screening of the film *Mutiny on the Bounty* at Moulin Madame - A film by Lewis Milestone, released in 1962, starring Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard and Richard Harris – Running time: 178 minutes Whilst the Revolution of 1789 questioned the institution of slavery – see Olympe de Gouges and her *Reflections on Black Men* – the film recounts the true story of the Mutiny on the Bounty led by Fletcher Christian in 1789, aboard the ship Bounty, against Captain Bligh, whose intransigence in enforcing iron-fisted discipline eventually exasperated his crew and most of his officers. Captain William Bligh was tasked with bringing back breadfruit seedlings from Polynesia, the fruit of which could be used to feed the labour force (mainly slaves) in the British colonies. After their successful mutiny, the rebels settled on the Pitcairn Islands, which were at the time uninhabited and unknown.
