[Demon Party] Il est Vilaine + Grimr

There’s a demon in all of us! On 31 October, we’re not asking you to dress up as a vampire or a pumpkin. We’re just asking you to come and dance. The music will take care of the rest. The only requirement is that you want to dance until something stirs within you. IL EST VILAINEFor the past ten years, Il Est Vilaine have been setting dancefloors alight with an electro sound tinged with raunchy rock that evokes the New York of the Bush Tetras or the Tokyo of YMO more than the records from Pont-Aven. It was in Paris, not Saint-Malo, that the two partners met, and it is from there that – following in the footsteps of the Kill The DJ stable before them – they are revitalising the fusion of new wave and techno, disco and surf rock, much to the delight of those who (still) dance like Ian Curtis. Since *Scandale*, their first EP released on Dialect Recordings, and *Surf Rider* on Lumière Noire, the duo have carved out a solid reputation. They could have carried on in the same vein, driving straight down the clubbing motorway, but that would have been to underestimate their free spirit and mischievous eclecticism. With their debut album, *Les Mystères de Lorient*, released in 2021 – a lavish synthesis of the musical influences of the two partners, ranging from Devo to DAF and Christophe’s rock period – they proved they can move effortlessly between genres. After the post-pandemic period and a few appearances, Il Est Vilaine got back into the swing of things in 2024 to celebrate their 10th anniversary with *Kool Menthol*, a rather irresistible disco-inspired EP, and a memorable gig at the Sample Bagnolet. GRÍMR Grimr is an electronic music artist and producer from Dijon who has made a name for himself on the regional music scene. His dark, post-industrial musical style is influenced by techno, EBM and post-punk. He stands out for his innovative approach to production, blending pop with techno. With his hybrid, high-octane BPMs and his unbridled, turbo-charged electro, Grímr – a leading figure on the Dijon underground scene – is supported by national media outlets such as Longueur d’Onde Magazine, as well as local outlets including Sparse, Point Break and Radio Campus. Bucking the trends of cold-wave and Electronic Body Music, he takes us on a journey into slow, percussive, danceable and heady techno, as exemplified by his first two EPs, *Instincts* (Bruit Marron) and *Comma* (Soil Records). Inspired by artists such as Schwefelgelb, Paula Temple and Daft Punk, Grímr creates immersive and unique music, characterised by cold sounds, complex textures and powerful rhythms. With a new EP due out in 2026, Grímr is one of the emerging artists to watch closely.
