"There's no point in running, you have to start on time".

For the past 2 years, Sieur Titou has been racking his brains to help celebrate the 400th anniversary of Jean de La Fontaine. It's a real challenge to rewrite the fables of this renowned writer, who is certainly sanctimonious but not lacking in impertinence.

La Fontaine was inspired by the Greek poet Aesop (24 centuries before him) to write his fables and, in turn, Titou is inspired by Jean de La Fontaine 402 years later.

But waiting creates desire, and Titou works tirelessly, mixing classical alexandrines with slang language. In this adaptation, he modernises and updates the story, anchoring La Fontaine and Aesop in our contemporary world.

    Thierry Jallet dit Titou
The zany poet from Pirajoux! Here comes Titou again, with his guitar and his wit, guest of the festival for the 19th year. Why 19? Maybe because he was born on 19 June, or maybe it's more like a poem by Prévert: Louis I, Louis II, Louis III... Louis X... Louis XVI, Louis XVII, Louis XVIII, and no one left. What's with these people who can't count to twenty? What is certain is that discovering Titou 20 years ago was not in vain.
