Dances on the Saône

in Chalon-sur-Saône
  • Danses-sur-Saône is a new international festival of traditional dance and music organised by the Arcadanse association from 14 to 16 July 2023 in Saint-Marcel (71380) and in the Grand Chalon area.

The ambition is simple: to make discover all the richness of the French and foreign folklore to the Burgundian public, through a diversified offer of spectacles in the Grand Chalon (Saint Marcel, Lans, Givry, Chalon).

For this, we can count on the participation of 2 French groups:

The ambition is simple: to make discover all the richness of the French and foreign folklore to the Burgundian public, through a diversified offer of spectacles in the Grand Chalon (Saint Marcel, Lans, Givry, Chalon).

For this, we can count on the participation of 2 French groups:
    - Lo Gerbo Baudo from Confolens (Charente Limousine)
    - Arcadanse from Saint-Marcel (Bresse)

As well as 2 foreign folklore groups:
    - Syrena from Roche la Molière (presenting Polish folklore)
    - La Compania de Danza Folklorica de la ciudad de México (Mexico)

This means that about a hundred dancers and musicians will come to Saint-Marcel!

Through this event, we are defending the values of diversity, sharing (with the public and between groups)... but also the safeguarding of an intangible cultural heritage that is dear to us. Through dance, music, costumes, rituals and customs, the festival participates in the highlighting and valorisation of strong and deeply rooted cultures.

We also want the groups present to be able to exchange with each other, which is why we make it a point of honour to programme meeting times, around dance and music, which take place during the day.

At the crossroads of cultures, Danses sur Saône will offer the public an artistic journey through time and the world!
