Discover Auguste Perret’s work in Chalon
Discover the work of Auguste Perret in Chalon – a leading 20th-century architect whose work is rarely seen in Burgundy, and whose 150th anniversary has just been celebrated!
This chapel was built in 1923 for La Colombière School, which was then located on Rue d’Autun. This tour offers the chance to explore a school attended by many residents of Chalon, but also to explore the religious work of the architect and contractor specialising in concrete, at a time when sacred art was experiencing a revival in France following the separation of Church and State (1905). This tour will also allow you to discover or admire the stained-glass windows in the La Colombière chapel, created by Marguerite Huré.
Since 1 January 2025, you have been free to photograph the building – something many of you had been asking for!
