The Italian harpsichordist Michele Benuzzi is visiting us in Les Maranges for a recital of French music from the first half of the 18th century
The Italian harpsichordist Michele Benuzzi is visiting us in Les Maranges, having travelled from Milan with his harpsichord to give a recital featuring French music from the first half of the 18th century.
He presents a personal selection of harpsichord works by Antoine Forqueray, François Couperin and Jacques Duphly, which offer us ‘portraits of musicians’, as all three composed pieces paying tribute to their contemporaries. Thus, both François Couperin and Jacques Duphly composed a piece entitled *La Forqueray*, whilst Forqueray wrote *La Couperin*, *La Rameau*, *La Guignon*, *La Montigni*, *La Leclair*…
These musical portraits bear witness to figures who were highly influential in their day, and who have bequeathed to us a musical heritage that we continue to explore and appreciate for its refinement and wealth of inventiveness.
