Practical guide for hosts
If you’re planning to open a meublé de tourisme business in Greater Chalon, here’s all the information you’ll need. What formalities are required, what documents need to be provided, what status to adopt.
We remind you that to start any activity you’ll need a Town Hall declaration, a SIRET number (even if your accommodation is rented via an online reservation platform such as Airbnb, Booking, Abritel) or managed by a concierge service.
Furnished tourist accommodations are furnished villas, apartments or studios, for the exclusive use of the tenant, offered for rent to a visiting clientele for a stay characterized by a daily, weekly or monthly rental, and who do not elect domicile there (article D. 324-1 of the French Tourism Code).
They differ from other types of accommodation, such as hotels and tourist residences, in that they are reserved for the exclusive use of the tenant, with no reception area or lobby, and no shared services or facilities. They are distinct from chambre d’hôtes, where the occupant is present during the rental period.
Seasonal or tourist rentals differ from residential leases in 2 respects
- The tenant does not take up residence in the property, but rather lives there mainly for vacation purposes.
- The seasonal rental must be concluded for a maximum of 90 consecutive days with the same person.
