In this year of municipal elections, the Heritage Department invites you to visit the Salle des Maires in the Town Hall.
Until 1985, this room was the Council Chamber. Renovated in 2010, it bears this name because, on the initiative of the Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie de Chalon-sur-Saône (Chalon-sur-Saône History and Archaeology Society), the photographic portraits of some of the mayors are exhibited here, as was the case in other towns with painted portraits. This is an opportunity to rediscover figures such as Jean Richard, Georges Nouelle, Roger Lagrange and others, and to talk about the key events of their terms of office, just before the bicentenary of photography!
