Make the most of your lunch break and take 1 hour to discover a part of the heritage of the Chalonnais!
Although a number of preparatory studies and diagnostics had made it possible to pinpoint the main phases of the restoration work, earlier surveys had failed to reveal the impressive amount of polychrome finally uncovered on the walls and vaults of the nave, transept and choir during the 2024-2025 restoration work. While it is not yet possible to date all these painted decorations precisely, it is clear that the polychromy that has been rediscovered allows us to see the building as it appeared to the faithful at the end of the Middle Ages or at the beginning of the Renaissance, when the vaults of the nave were being completed.... Even if 19th-century neo-Gothic painting is also present! It's an original visit based on a genuine rediscovery, as restoration work continues in the chapels!
