I LOOKED OUT TO SEA FOR A LONG TIME.
This collection of photographs looks at the sea in wonder.
After 20 years of searching, I'm unveiling the images that have emerged from my research, offering a journey. Water reassures me. The ocean, the tides, the waves, the sky...
everything is balance and harmony. The people you will see in this series are anonymous. Faced with the poetry of the sea, their eyes light up and their faces take on a dimension of eternity. In my work, the horizon cuts the world in two.
On one side is the earth, and on the other is the sky. The body and the mind. Reality and dreams. And then there's water. Water is elusive, reflecting light and allowing our eyes to navigate from one world to another to grasp all the complexity that surrounds us, like a bridge between two universes that never meet. Water is nature's invisible brush. It changes colour every minute.
It dances, unpredictable but elegant, wild and reassuring. It directs my gaze. When the sea recedes, all that's left are natural pools scattered across the beach, sculpted by the chance of the waves, transformed into hypnotic patches of light. There is no temporality in water, only cycles. It beats like a heart from eternity.
That's what moves me and what I'm trying to share in this photographic series, produced almost exclusively in Berck. Far from the imagery of a sunny seaside resort, my vision of Berck is intimate and melancholy.
It invites the viewer to quiet introspection in the face of baroque nature. It's like keeping a fragment of that summer on the beach that stays with you forever.
We will pass away, but the sea will remain.
