Jeanette Berger cultivates a rare voice, capable of both confidence and fire. A modern Soul that feels good. Chills guaranteed.
Jeanette Berger cultivates a rare voice, capable of both confidence and passion.
Revealed on piano-vocals with Blues Prayer in 2012, she went on to perform at Jazz à Vienne, Solidays and New Morning, founded Blue Moon Records and recorded In My Mind at the Maison des Artistes in Chamonix, under the watchful eye of André Manoukian. A live album will follow in 2020.
With Do Your Thing, her second album, she asserts herself: carnal soul, clear pop, gospel ember, tenacious groove. It's reminiscent of Norah Jones, Beth Hart and Olivia Dean, but her signature style never fades. Keep Me Burning, Do Your Thing, Way Beyond Intimate and Sunshine in the Dark are all about coming to terms with a heavy past and rediscovering freedom.
Jeanette Berger's writing is direct and gently cracked, and she hits the nail on the head without pastiche.
Plus: back in Chalon sur Saône for the first time with her new album and her musicians.
