This tour will enable visitors to discover a place that is still largely unknown, and the history of one of the most powerful female religious orders of the Counter-Reformation, which settled in Chalon in the 17th century and didn't leave the town until 1970, when it moved to Mazille, where it still lives today.

Initially based at Sainte-Marie, the Chalonnais Carmelite nuns were obliged after the Revolution to buy land and build a new convent in the heart of the town, starting in 1825.

This Sunday, you will be told the unique story of these women, and of buildings that are often little-known to the people of Chalonnais. It's an exceptional visit, not to be missed as children flock to the site, which has been a leisure centre since spring 2024.
Visits must be booked in advance by calling 03 85 93 15 98 (places are limited).
You are advised to collect your ticket from the Espace Patrimoine.
