Musical journey: The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Whether in the remote villages of Australia, the fjords of Norway or the cosmopolitan city of Berlin, the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic's mission is to make classical music resound around the world.
This season, the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic's concert calendar is already fully booked. Almost 150 concerts are planned in Germany and in over 200 cities abroad, taking classical music around the world.
The Cologne Chamber Philharmonic was founded in 2003 in Cologne, a city internationally renowned for its conservatory and its music teachers. The Cologne Chamber Philharmonic constantly recruits new talent at masterclasses given by teachers Viktor Tretiakov, Maria Kliegel, Robert Winn, Frans Helmerson, Zakhar Bron and Ralph Manno. More than 100 musicians now play in the various formations of the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic. After a meticulous selection process, numerous ensembles are formed, from chamber orchestra to symphony orchestra. After intensive rehearsals, the tours begin and the musical adventure can begin.
Since November 2009, the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic has been working with Mercedes-Benz. Together, we have launched a new series of concerts in the sumptuous Mercedes Center building, transformed for the occasion into a classical music palace. The first concerts took place in spring 2010.
At the same time, our world tour will take us to Australia, Spain, the UK and throughout Germany. During the preparations, we pay particular attention to the selection of works and soloists.
Thanks to the particular uniqueness of the orchestra's soloists, the Chamber Philharmonic offers each of its musicians the opportunity to perform as a soloist.
The Chamber Philharmonic's motto is to compose its repertoire with the most select works. The particular appeal of our programme lies in the combination of popular works with lesser-known ones from different musical eras. In this way, great masters such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi dialogue with works ranging from Sergei Prokofiev to the king of tango, Astor Piazzolla.
This mix promises diversity at the highest level.
Our main aim remains to excite and promote classical music throughout the world!
