Day 1

ARRIVAL IN SAINT-RÉMY GUIDED TOUR OF THE SCHOOL MUSEUM
Through two reconstructed classrooms, the Museum retraces the history of schools from the Revolution to the present day. The 19th-century Republican school is presented in the Jules Ferry room, with period materials and teaching aids such as desks and back tutors. In the 1930s room, it’s the time of purple ink, sergeant-major feathers and ink stains, the time of lessons about things and morals.

GUIDED TOUR OF THE TOWN
Chalon-sur-Saône, capital of the Merovingian kingdom of Burgundy, had its heyday in the Middle Ages with its numerous fairs.
organized during the Middle Ages. Discover the quays of the Saône, Place Saint-Vincent, the Cathedral and the cloister, the only preserved canonical cloister in Burgundy and Franche-Comté.

GUIDED TOUR OF THE HÔTEL DIEU
Located in the heart of the city, the Hôtel Dieu is recognizable by its glazed tile roof and Gothic facades. You’ll visit the kitchen, the “salle des Pôvres”, the pharmacy and the founders’ courtyard. You’ll discover the 15th-century 9-panel polyptych of the Last Judgment, attributed to the Flemish artist Rogier Van Der Weyden.
