The Orbandale Way

Le chemin de l’Orbandale is a tourist trail that lets you explore the more or less hidden treasures of the historic heart of Chalon and Ile Saint-Laurent. From remarkable facades to inner courtyards, 35 points of interest dot the city. The tour is available in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Chinese from the Tourist Office. There is also an “Orbidule” version for children (5-7 and 8-12 years).

On the borders of the Bresse, Charolais and exceptional Burgundy vineyards, the Chalonnais region benefits from the presence of a multitude of local producers, offering consumers a wide range of fresh produce. Local produce sold in short circuits on the markets of Grand Chalon. From Bresse poultry to Charolais beef, snails, wines, charcuterie, cheeses, fruit and vegetables, it’s easy to eat good, local food in Chalon! The Friday and Sunday morning markets, as well as the Wednesday morning organic market, are great places to buy quality regional produce.

Sunday market

On Sunday mornings, many of the inhabitants of Chalonnais gather at the large downtown market. Stroll through the pedestrian streets, discover local produce and enjoy a drink on the terrace in Place de la Cathédrale.
