From the Chalon-sur-Saône Tourist Office, embark on a cycling tour combining heritage, nature along the Canal du Centre, and vineyards, discovering the emblematic villages of the Chalonnaise region. This 35-km, intermediate-level route will take you through the diverse landscapes between the city, plains, hillsides, and forests. The departure point in front of the tourist office plunges you directly into the heart of the city. After this warm-up, you'll head to Champforgeuil and Fragnes, at the gateway to the Chalon countryside along the canal. The scenery then opens up to the first vineyards, with a gentle climb to Rully, famous for its château and appellation wines. The tour then takes you to Mercurey, the renowned capital of Côte Chalonnaise red wines. A tasting break at a local winery is highly recommended to discover the flavors of the terroir. Continue to Mellecey, then Germolles, where the castle of the same name – residence of the Dukes of Burgundy – is an exceptional historical stop. The descent to Dracy-le-Fort offers panoramic views of the vineyards, before reaching Saint-Rémy, on the edge of Chalon. The return is gentle, via secure roads, bringing you back to the city center and its many cafés and restaurants, perfect for concluding this active and gourmet break. Take the opportunity to discover the historic center of Chalon-sur-Saône, between the cathedral, medieval streets and half-timbered facades. Between heritage, wine culture and the good life, this circuit offers you an immersion in the heart of the art of living in Burgundy, a stone's throw from the city. An ideal loop for curious cyclists, lovers of beautiful landscapes and local history.
