Chalon-sur-Saône, an ideal starting point. The route begins in Chalon-sur-Saône, a true cycling hub thanks to the presence of the Saône River and major dedicated cycle paths. The riverbanks, bike services, and accommodation options make it a comfortable starting point for a multi-day trip. Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, along the water. Following the Saône Valley, the route reaches Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, a riverside town located at the confluence of the Doubs and Saône rivers. This smooth and peaceful section is ideal for settling into the rhythm of the journey, between towpaths, meadows, and open landscapes. Beaune, capital of Burgundy wines. The circuit then heads towards Beaune, crossing the iconic landscapes of the Côte de Beaune. This stage marks a highlight of the route, blending prestigious vineyards, remarkable heritage, and a lively urban atmosphere, perfect for a break or an overnight stop. Chagny, between vineyards and canal. From Beaune, the route reaches Chagny, the gateway to the Canal du Centre. Buxy, heart of the Côte Chalonnaise. A central stage of the route, Buxy is a natural stopover. Surrounded by vineyards and hills, the town offers numerous opportunities for rest, dining, and accommodation, ideal for a cycling tour. Saint-Gengoux-le-National, a medieval town. The route then reaches Saint-Gengoux-le-National, remarkable for its medieval heritage and scenic setting. This section adds a more historical dimension to the ride, with slightly more pronounced but still manageable terrain. Cormatin, heritage and the Burgundy countryside.
