[Concerts] Schlaasss + DuR ChaToN

SCHLAASSSLegend has it that Charlie Dirty and Daddy Schwartz met in 2012 at a personal development workshop on ‘yoga of the scream’. It was following this love-at-first-sight encounter that they formed the band Schlaasss with Kiki, the beat-maker-guru specialising in coaching through internal massage, and Mekki, an indigo child and videographer with an exceptional vibrational frequency. Some compare them to Sexy Sushi, whom they’ve never listened to; others to Stupeflip, of whom no member of the group knows more than two tracks; some talk of punk – yes, perhaps, if you’re not looking for a historical re-enactment complete with uniforms. Others talk about rap; that might work, given that ‘rap’ doesn’t really mean much anymore. The fact remains that the band Schlaasss doesn’t give a damn about anything – punk, rap, Monoprix, Casino, Prisunic, Total, or what you should and shouldn’t say to be accepted in a village of inbreeds. We could quote Einstein to finish off, but we’re just writing ‘n’miprote’ to have a laugh when we see this text copied and pasted into the programmes. DUR CHATON DuR ChaToN is the collaboration between a multifaceted, punk visual artist and an electronic music producer. Together, they shape ‘retroclash’: a mutant mix of edgy EBM, free-party techno and retro-revolutionary French chanson. On stage, Sophie Laronde and Moldav reject the prevailing docility and take you down off-the-beaten-track paths. A rhythmic, invigorating and highly flammable concoction. Far from being domesticated, the duo distils unfiltered poetry and delivers a playful drama where dictatorial kittens, bleeding loves and satisfied clitorises coexist.
