Concert by Ensemble Agamemnon in tribute to a brilliant painter - Artemisia sets to music the Caravaggesque dramas of memorable women.
An emblematic figure of Caravaggesque painting, Artemisia Gentileschi was one of the most accomplished artists of her time. Renowned throughout Italy and beyond, she made her mark thanks to the dramatic emphasis she placed on the themes of her paintings. Particular importance was given to female figures, both sacred and historical. Susanna, Judith, Esther, Cleopatra and Lucrezia all illustrate myths that span the ages and the arts.
The Ensemble Agamemnon sets to music to illustrate the most striking paintings in his oeuvre. Mary Magdalene, the Virgin and Susanna come to musical life, conveying the same emotions as the Caravaggesque painter's canvases!
