Behind the pseudonym SIZ hides Sylvain Palis, younger brother of the hyperactive Thoineau Palis, aka TH Da Freak, twirling bassist with the aforementioned band, member of a good handful of other Bordeaux formations and member of the Flippin' Freaks collective. Nourished by 90s indie rock, Sylvain started the SIZ project in 2016, surrounded by Quentin Plantier (drums), Rémi Lemoine (bass) and his brother Thoineau.
Produced by Arthur of JC Satan, the band's debut album, Liquid (2019), unveils eight compositions that sound like sonic deflagrations, borrowing from the impressive walls of sound typical of shoegaze as well as the tortured guitars of Seattle's grunge scene.
A few French tours later, 2021 marked the start of a collaboration with the Howlin' Banana label around a duo of singles, 'From The Sea To Your Mind' and 'The Aquatic Light'. Two melancholy compositions with soothing guitars, highlighting a hitherto unseen pop facet in the Bordeaux native's songwriting.
