The exhibition reveals recent research into the phenomenon of Bronze Age metal deposits in or near water, and attempts to solve their enigma.

Thanks to the museum's rich collections and the generous loans of 25 public or private collections, the exhibition "Swords for the Saône" presents more than 300 objects or sets of objects from the Bronze Age (2300-800 BC) found mainly in water. Among these prestigious and everyday objects, found in the Saône, but also in the Rhine, the Seine, the Loire, the Alpine lakes or the marshes, are exhibited exceptional objects such as the breastplates from Véria (Jura) and Saint-Germain-du-Plain (Saône-et-Loire) and the swords, helmet, bracelet and sickle from the Ferrier port deposit (Chalon-sur-Saône, Saône-et-Loire).

To help you discover the exhibition in a child-friendly way, a booklet for young visitors will be given to you free of charge at the reception desk.
