The year 2023 saw strong visitor figures across the four divisions of the Grand Chalon Tourist Office: Tourism, Events, Entertainment and Water Sports. Here is a summary of the key achievements and initiatives of each division.

The year 2024 was characterised by rising visitor numbers and a number of key initiatives across the four divisions of the Grand Chalon Tourist Office. This summary outlines the key achievements and major developments driven by the Tourism, Events, Entertainment and Boating teams.

Review of the tourist season2025

In 2025, the Tourist Office decided to expand its digital presence to boost the region’s visibility and attract new visitors. The figures are generally encouraging across the four areas and demonstrate the appeal of the Greater Chalon region.

Tourism strategy2022–2026

The Greater Chalon area is rolling out a 2022–2026 strategy focused on promoting its wine-growing heritage, developing river tourism, boosting cycle tourism and showcasing its rich cultural heritage. The aim is to boost the region’s appeal by offering authentic experiences centred on wine, the River Saône, cycle routes and the unique heritage of Chalon-sur-Saône, a ‘City of Art and History’ and the birthplace of photography.

Tourism strategy2026–2032

Over the next six years, the Tourist Office will continue to capitalise on the many strengths of its region, with the primary aim of moving from simply listing its attractions to becoming a fully-fledged and well-positioned destination. By committing to the “Destination of Excellence” initiative, the Tourist Office reaffirms its determination to maintain high standards of quality, tailored to the expectations of today’s tourists.
