From the vine to the table

Vineyards and gastronomy in Cote Chalonnaise
Description

Leave Chalon sur Saône in the morning aboard a luxury coach.

9.30am: You will arrive in the middle of the vineyards at a well-known chateau in Mercurey, famous wine making village on the Côte Chalonnaise.
You will be welcomed to the Chateau and will start with a tour of the vines.
An explication will be given of how the vine works, its annual cycle, the “terroirs”, classifications and appellations.
Then you will visit the beautiful historic cellars.  During the wine-tasting explanations will be given on the grape harvest, wine making, maturing and keeping/storing wines
To round off this tour, you will take part in a special luncheon where food and wines are matched.

12pm: Lunch

Sample menu (this may change according to the season)
Bavarian tomatoes, fresh goat cheese, basil and a tapenade crouton
Confit of duck leg, stir-fried vegetables
Selection of local cheeses
Cherry clafoutis
Accompanied by 3 Premier Cru wines (Mercurey and Nuits St Georges)
A commentary on the wines you are drinking will be given during the luncheon.
Look at the wine, sniff it and then taste it!
A visual, olfactory and gustatory experience.  The aromas will be waiting!
After lunch, the group returns to Chalon sur Saône by luxury coach.
