Chalon sur Saône owes its label “Town of Art and History” to the wealth of its heritage. By following the Orbandale Way circuit, you will discover around thirty places of architectural interest within the historical old town.
After a relaxing stroll along the banks of the river Saône and through the pedestrian zone in the town centre, the Place Saint-Vincent is the ideal setting to stop and have a drink, while contemplating the beauty of the cathedral and the half-timbered houses that surround it.
Did you know that Chalon sur Saône, as well as being the birthplace of the inventor of photography, is also a town of images? Based in the former mansion of the “Messageries Royales” and dedicated to contemporary photography, the Nicéphore Niépce museum is set out in a way that introduces you to the most important principles of photography.
